THEME

Color/less is an exhibition dedicated to color and to its absence.

Since the emergence of color photography, color has been able to define space and shape atmosphere, as well as add an emotional tone to an image. It can function as the subject itself or remain a barely noticeable background.

Soft pastel tones, an aggressive red, or a b&w silhouette — any approach to constructing the color space of the image is welcome in this open call.

We simply ask that color (or its absence) be one of the key elements in the construction of your photographs.

The interpretation of the theme, however, is entirely up to you.

  • Yes. All formats and approaches are welcome.

  • No, AI-generated images are not accepted.

You may use AI tools as part of the workflow or editing process of your photographs, but fully AI-generated images are not accepted.

  • We’ll contact you by email.

Depending on the number of submissions, the review process may take some time. In many cases, the final decision may be made after the submission deadline has passed.

We’ll also inform you if your work is not selected, so you’re not left waiting.

  • Yes — until the deadline.
Just contact us at info@cambridgephotographygallery.com with the changes you’d like to make.

  • A short description or a project description is a brief text outlining your work — its concept, context, or what inspired it. We believe that a description can help viewers better understand your work and serve as a key to the artist’s world.

At the same time, we understand that not every photograph requires an explanation. In some cases (especially with a single image) the work may speak for itself. Therefore, including a description is optional, and the decision is entirely up to you.

  • There is no fixed limit on the number of images — you are free to include as many as you feel are necessary for your project. At the same time, we kindly ask you to keep some reasonable boundaries in mind, as very large projects (for example, 40 images) may be difficult to accommodate within the exhibition if most other projects are significantly smaller.

  • No cover image is needed — all photographs will be displayed as part of a unified online exhibition layout.

However, if you feel that a specific presentation format is important for your project, we are open to considering alternative approaches. In such cases, we would be happy to discuss your idea with you via email.

  • We believe that a limited time window helps the exhibition feel special. During these two weeks, we will actively promote the exhibition, post dedicated Instagram posts, and share stories together with the artists. After it ends, the exhibition will remain accessible on our website in the “Past Exhibitions” section.

  • The participation fee helps us cover the administrative costs of running the exhibition, maintaining the website, email, and other related expenses.

We’re a small independent initiative — our goal is not profit, but sustainability.

  • No. Vanity galleries exist to profit from artists.
We exist to support artists — to give them space, visibility, and grow together as a creative community.

We are not an endless generator of open calls for the sake of maximizing profit. Quite opposite, we aim to make each exhibition we organize thoughtful and distinct, treating every open call as a specific curatorial statement rather than a routine cycle.

  • We accept payments via Stripe or PayPal. If your work is selected, we will send you a payment link with further details.
