Who we are
Cambridge Photography Gallery is a new space for contemporary photography — for photography that makes you feel and think. Photography that can be strange or shocking, silly or funny, beautiful or not beautiful at all, technically imperfect or perfectly polished.
As photographers ourselves, we know how challenging it can be to create in the most widespread of all art forms. Competitions are few. Exhibitions are few. Photographers often outnumber the viewers. That’s why we believe it’s important to give voice to as many people as possible.
OUR VALUES
Today, billions of photographs are made every single day. An unimaginable number. For many, photography is a language of visual communication or a way to preserve memories. But for countless others, it remains an artistic medium — a way to express themselves, tell stories, and evoke emotions.
We value deep, long-term photo series that let you step into the author’s world. But we also believe that single images can carry just as much emotional and artistic power.
We understand what photographers need: an audience, clarity in the submission process, and trust.
And we want to earn that trust.
We know that, yes, most viewers of photography are other photographers. But we also want to bring photography to wider audiences. To those who might not normally look for it but can still be moved by it.
Our open calls will be as simple and democratic as possible. No resizing your files just for us. No pointless renaming of files just for us. What really matters is your work. Shown in the best way we can.
OUT FUTURE
Right now, Cambridge Photography Gallery lives online. But we’re growing fast. Soon we hope to organize in-person exhibitions in Cambridge. And one day, maybe even create a dedicated physical space for photography in the city.
Stay connected, take part in our open calls, and come to our exhibitions.
Let’s grow together.
